Retrospective Value Appraisals

Appraisals are prepared with an ‘effective’ date. In some cases, it is necessary to develop an appraisal as of a past date which is often the case with property disputes, Estate settlements, Capital Gains and Marital separations. Retrospective Appraisals are prepared in a similar fashion to a current value appraisal, however, the value is developed and supported from historical data relative to the time frame of the effective date. This process can be challenging for inexperienced appraisers and should only be completed by a designated member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada.
